IFB Short Film Scheme | After16

Industry Event
20 March 2015
Submission Deadline:
20 March 2015

AFTER '16 is a once-off initiative with a view to commemorating, celebrating and ruminating on 1916 and how the events of Easter Sunday and beyond forged the landscape of the century that followed.

Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) would like to invite filmmakers to give their response to 1916 and the hundred years since. We are looking for stories, both fact and fiction, which illuminate, surprise and even provoke - on the wide subject of 1916 and what it has left in its wake.

These stories can be contemporary or period, live action or animation and we welcome projects in both English and Irish language.

Applications from established film-makers as well as newer talent will be welcomed.

The stories should be ambitious and imaginative with the ability to appeal to both local and international audiences.

For fiction filmmakers we wish to encourage strong, original storytelling, visual flair, and production values appropriate to the big screen. The initiative also offers an opportunity for producers, directors and writers to work in a professional environment that will bring their experience up to a higher level or for established filmmakers to add another string to their bow.

For non-fiction filmmakers we wish to encourage the realisation of fresh approaches to non-fiction filmmaking. Projects selected for support may be journalistic or creative, observational or aesthetic, objective or personal.

Films may be made in Irish or English (if produced in the Irish language, subtitling will be necessary for festivals & sales worldwide).

The deadline has been extended to 1pm Friday 20th  March 2015.

The online system will automatically close down at 1pm on this day so please ensure your submission is completed and submitted well in advance of the deadline as late applications will not be accepted by email or otherwise.
